2018: A year after leading Louisville City in goals scored, the veteran spent the 2018 campaign taking on a number of unexpected roles. After former head coach James O’Connor left the club, Spencer was a member of a trio of player-coaches for several weeks of league play. On the pitch, Spencer started in 19 matches while appearing in 11 others. His seven goals on the year were good for third on the roster. The Cincinnati-native returns for his third season with the club.
2017: Announced as a signing on Feb. 9 after impressing at LouCity's invitation tryout...Scored his first USL goal -- and first since his college days -- after coming on as a sub March 30 at Orlando City B...Spencer went on to score three more times before the season's halfway point, ranking among the team leaders...The forward headed in LouCity's second goal of a 5-0 win Aug. 12 against FC Cincinnati and followed with a pair of assists to claim USL Player of the Week...He registered a first half brace Aug. 20 in a win at Bethlehem Steel FC...Leads the team in scoring as of Sept. 9 with nine goals, good for one every 111 minutes on the pitch.
Before Louisville City: After a notable career at Xavier University, where he scored 29 goals and registered 21 assists, Spencer made his professional debut in 2016 with FC Cincinnati. Spencer was selected 23rd in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft out of Xavier by the New England Revolution. He didn't sign with the club after suffering a knee injury but returned to Xavier to serve on the coaching staff. During his senior year of college, Spencer also played for Premier Development League side Cincinnati Kings, scoring 2 goals in 11 appearances.
