2017: Took hold of the right back spot again, playing every minute of LouCity's first 16 games...Scored his first goal of the season June 11 in a win over the New York Red Bulls II...named USL Midseason Defender of the Year, as voted on by fans around the league...Smith scored his second goal of the season in the 43rd-minute of a 3-0 win Sept. 9 over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds...The defender continues to rank among LouCity'sleaders in minutes played.
2016: Had a breakout season for the club, playing in 30 games and recording a team-high 2,300 minutes as a rookie signed out of open tryouts. Smith totaled 1 goal and 6 assists on the year, with his first assist against his new hometown club, FC Cincinnati, in a 3-2 away win on April 16. He scored his first goal and had an assist in a 2-0 away victory against the Charleston Battery on May 28, then recorded assists in the next two games, including a 4-3 victory at Orlando City B on June 5. Fans voted Smith the USL’s Midseason Rookie of the Year after his move from the midfield in college to right back, where he served up a number of dangerous crosses.
Before Louisville City: Smith spent two years as an attacking midfielder with the Cincinnati Dutch Lions, which compete in a strong conference. In four years for Transylvania University -- from 2010 to 2013 – he saw success as a senior, scoring 18 goals (5 were game-winners) to go with 8 assists.
